Up for sale is my 1944 John Deere B – Serial Number 163328. This tractor is in VGC. I purchased her about 2 years ago from a gentleman who had it restored about 8 years prior. Tractor is hand start and runs very well. All gauges work (oil and temp), both wheel brakes and clutch brake work fine, working radiator shutters, working hydraulic rockshaft, 3 speed (plus reverse) tranny with high/low range selector, working PTO, and cast rear wheels. This is the all fuel model and thus has a large fuel tank and a small (1 gallon) gas tank along with the selector valve. I only run gas in it through the main tank and have not used the small one. All fluids (engine and tranny) were changed just over a year ago. I also adjusted the valves last spring along with cleaning and adjusting the carb. This spring I tied to start her after 3 weeks of sub-zero weather and she started after about a minute of turning over the flywheel. No starting fluid or anything, just elbow grease. Like I said, she is in VGC but is not perfect. She has been stored in a barn since restored but there are a few nicks here and there from age (she was restored about 10 years ago). I have seen no welds or cracks in the block and I do not believe the hood has been patched (if they did, it was a VG job). The only other issue I know of is with the top steering bushing under the nose. It is a bit worn so there is a little slop in the steering. I hate to sell her but I have too many irons in the fire. I have a Ford 9N we purchased last year for my daughter that needs restored, plus I am going to be getting a MF 65 that needs restored so something has to go. Last note – in a couple of the photos it may look like there are streaks in the paint. This is actually water from washing her off – I took the photos before she had been dried off. |
