The first is a circular disc that is a little over 3" in diameter with a thickness of 1/8". It has a very detailed JD 4440 tractor done in relief. It commemorates 2 million tractors produced at the Waterloo plant between 1918 and 1980. It has a pewter-like color and luster. I don't know the exact metal it is cast in - but a magnet doesn't stick to it. There is a little bit of casting media in the photo...but a toothbrush knocked it right off. It has a small hole at the top for hanging it. The backside has no writing or design.
The second medallion marks the 5th Anniversary of operation at the John Deere Engine Works. This brass/ bronze plaque measures about 3 1/2" by 3" and has a small hole at the top for hanging it. It has a thickness of about 1/8". The front has a detailed John Deere tractor engine done in relief and says, "JOHN DEERE ENGINE WORKS, Fifth Anniversary, FEBRUARY 1976-1981". The back has an orange peel style texturing. This one has a slight amount of bluish-green surface oxidation/patina.
There is no box or paperwork with either medallion. Both are in nice shape. The photo is your best guide to their condition. These might be used for Christmas ornaments, but they are pretty heavy for that.
